Slag- and limestone-blended composite cement with high early strength (R) — the standard grade for general building work, mortar and plaster; 25 kg Avrupalı 25 and 50 kg bags.
Portland composite cement is obtained by grinding 80–88% or 65–79% by mass of portland clinker together with blast-furnace slag, silica fume, pozzolana, fly ash, burnt shale and limestone, plus a small amount of setting regulator. Thanks to its high addition content, its heat of hydration is lower than plain portland cement. The additions also increase the impermeability of the concrete and prevent air voids, protecting it against external effects. Slag improves the later-age strength, while the pozzolanic additions support early-age strength.
The type BEM produces — as printed on the bag — is CEM II/B-M (S-L) 32,5 R: a composite cement blended with slag (S) and limestone (L), in the high-early-strength “R” class. It is used in all kinds of general reinforced-concrete work such as foundations, concrete structures and masonry buildings, in mortar applications such as screed, tiling and walls, and in many industrial products. Its 25 kg, EU-standard-compliant “Avrupalı 25” bag is a first in the TRNC market.
