Concrete sand is the fine-aggregate component of a concrete mix, washed to remove clay and organic matter before it reaches the mixer. Its grain distribution suits ready-mix and site-batched concrete, contributing to workability and strength alongside cement and coarse aggregate.

It is combined with gravel and cement at ready-mix concrete plants, in on-site concrete pours, precast element production and mortar mixes.
