Mechanically Crushed Class-1 Aggregate

A first-class, mechanically crushed and screened aggregate with angular grains, for concrete and road work.

Mechanically crushed class-1 aggregate is produced by running sound quarry rock through mechanical crushers and screens, giving angular, well-shaped grains. The "class 1" designation reflects that it is made from clean, sound quarry stock with a low proportion of fines and foreign matter.

Because its angular grains interlock strongly once compacted, it is favoured as a concrete aggregate and as the base/sub-base layer for roads and asphalt work.
