Stabilised Aggregate

A blended crushed-stone aggregate of mixed grain sizes, used as a compactable fill for roads and sub-bases.

Stabilised aggregate ('stabilize') is a graded blend of crushed stone, from fine dust to coarser particles, combined so that once compacted it reaches a high load-bearing capacity. Its grain mix is designed to pack down into a dense, stable surface with minimal voids.

It is used as a sub-base beneath roads, car parks and yard surfaces, as the levelling layer prior to a concrete or asphalt wearing course, and in general land-fill and grading work.
