EPDM Heavy Sound Barrier

A high-density elastomer sound barrier that reduces impact and structure-borne noise.

EPDM heavy-barrier rubber products deliver excellent acoustic performance by reducing impact and structure-borne noise radiating from a vibration source. They are widely used in the automotive industry as interior trim (for example under floor carpets and in the engine insulation compartment) and, in construction, as floor and wall insulation elements. Applied together with acoustic foam it can block even the strongest sounds; applied between two foam layers it shows superior sound-insulation performance.

The EPDM heavy barrier is a flexible, unreinforced sound barrier produced by blending high-density elastomers (EPDM and EVA) with mineral filler; it forms a barrier against noise energy travelling from one point to another.

Technical details: manufactured 1000 mm wide with a 35-15 egg profile and an EPDM heavy-barrier layer. Egg-crate, labyrinth and special profiles are also produced to increase absorption. For transmission loss, the heavy barrier can optionally use EPDM, lead, PVC or bitumen.
