PU SEAL

Polyurethane-based, single-component sealant
A polyurethane-based, highly elastic, low-modulus, putty-consistency joint sealant. It is suitable for use in areas exposed to UV rays and on exterior facades, and does not fade due to sunlight. It can be painted over. It is single-component and moisture-curing. It has high resistance to water, salt water, sunlight, outdoor weather conditions, thermal differences, detergents and similar effects.
Areas of Use
- Used for the watertight and permanently elastic filling of building joints
- At the connection points of precast elements
- In roof and terrace joints
- In the installation of water drains
- At the connection points of corner parapets
- For sealing aluminium/PVC frames and door casings
- For sealing facade panels and at their junctions
- Used in the connection details of different building materials such as steel structures and reinforced concrete
Advantages
- Adheres excellently to every type of surface, with or without primer.
- Easy to apply and its surface can be tooled.
- Excellent chemical resistance.
- Suitable for sealing joint systems in chemically treated water tanks and swimming pools.
- Can be painted over.
- Does not sag; thixotropic.
- Watertight once cured.

Application
Surfaces must be sound (non-dusting), clean, dry and free of loose particles. Layers that reduce adhesion, such as oil, grease, dirt, paint, cement laitance and rust, must be completely removed before application. Surfaces are cleared of oil and dirt with water- or solvent-based cleaning agents. Where deemed necessary, surfaces are cleaned and roughened by mechanical methods. PU SEAL provides excellent adhesion to many surfaces even without a primer. However, in some cases a primer may be required: on absorbent, mineral-based surfaces such as dusting or weakly adherent concrete or plaster, the surface should be consolidated with PUR PRIMER-1K and made ready for the sealant application. The joint depth is set using polyethylene backer rod or similar. Application tools: sealant gun.
