PU SEAL-2K

Two-component, polyurethane-based, wide-joint sealant
A two-component, polyurethane-based joint sealant for horizontal surfaces. It cures through atmospheric moisture and chemical reaction. It bonds excellently to different surfaces, forming a highly elastic and durable structure. It exhibits excellent mechanical and chemical properties, providing high tensile, tear and abrasion resistance. It is resistant to heavy traffic and surface movements.
Areas of Use
- Airport runways, aprons and hangars
- Applications requiring resistance to oil and fuels
- On motorways, bridges and viaducts
- Roads and concrete areas of industrial sites
- In railway track beds
- Filling horizontal joints
- At horizontal junctions between building elements
- Industrial floors
- Indoor and outdoor areas open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic
Advantages
- Bonds excellently to almost every type of surface
- Excellent chemical resistance.
- Suitable for chemically treated water tanks
- Accommodates 50% joint movement.
- Resistant to cold; retains its elasticity down to -40°C
- Resistant to jet fuel, oil and various chemical solutions

Application
Surface preparation: The application surfaces must be dry and clean. The application temperature must be in the 5-30 °C range. It must not be applied on wet or frozen floors or floors permanently exposed to water. The expansion and contraction movement of the application surface must not exceed 25% of the joint width. If deemed necessary during application, easily removable tapes can be applied to both sides of the joint to obtain a neat, clean line. Immediately after application, before the product has cured (after 30 min), these tapes must be removed. Preparing the mix: Components A and B come in separate packages with pre-determined mixing ratios. Component B is emptied entirely into component A and mixed. Mixing must be done with a mixer at a speed of 300 rpm. As it is a two-component product, taking the pot life into account, only the quantity to be consumed should be prepared at the specified mixing ratio. To obtain a homogeneous mix, make sure the product temperature is not below 15°C. Component A should first be stirred briefly on its own with a mechanical mixer, then the hardener (component B) should be added, observing the mixing ratio. Components A and B must be mixed with a mechanical mixer for at least 3 minutes until homogeneous. Take care to consume the prepared mix within its pot life. Joint application: After suitable joint and surface preparation, place the joint backer rod at the required depth and apply the primer. When installing the polyethylene backer rod, take particular care not to pierce its outer skin; otherwise it may cause bubbling as the temperature rises. Using a backer rod that acts as a firm and stable support is important for a correct width-to-depth ratio and a neat sealant application. Cleaning after application: The equipment used during application must be cleaned with a suitable solvent immediately after application. Primer selection: Highly absorbent surfaces such as concrete, cement screed or wood should first be saturated with TERAPOL PUR PRIMER-1K before proceeding with the sealant application.
