BINDER STONE-2K

Two-component, polyurethane-based, aliphatic stone binder

A two-component, polyurethane-based, solvent-free, UV-resistant natural stone binder. It is a material with good penetration properties, resistant to chemicals and of high mechanical strength.

Consumption	The example table is calculated at 1.7 kg/m²/mm for a mix made with 3-5 natural stone. As a coating, variable depending on the surface: 1.1 kg per m² for 1 mm thickness. As a natural stone binder, 4-6% by weight depending on the stone size.

Application

Before application, the surfaces must be cleared of oil, grease and loose particles. The surfaces must be sound, compacted floors with high bearing capacity. In applications over soil, the application surface should be prepared by forming load-bearing bases compacted with gravel and crushed stone of suitable grading. On non-absorbent surfaces such as concrete and ceramic, a suitable primer should be selected. Surface defects should be repaired with suitable products. Priming: For absorbent surfaces such as concrete, cement and screed, TERAPOL PUR PRIMER-1K or TERAPOL EPOXY PRIMER should be used. The moisture content of these surfaces must be max. 4-5%. On damp surfaces, TERAPOL PUR PRIMER-2K or TERAPOL EPOXY PRIMER-W should be preferred as the primer. It is applied by brush or roller. Once the primer has fully dried, the top-coat application follows. Mixing: The components are first stirred separately with a low-speed mixer and then combined. The combined A+B components are again mixed with a low-speed mixer for a few minutes until ready for use. Important note: once the two components are mixed, the pot life is max. 8-10 minutes at 23 °C. For this reason, TERAPOL BINDER STONE-2K should only be mixed after the natural stones and all preparations are complete. After TERAPOL BINDER STONE-2K has been mixed with the natural stones, the pot life is 35-40 minutes at 23 °C. Application: TERAPOL BINDER STONE-2K is prepared by mixing with natural stones selected according to the application thickness and the surface, following the example mix table; the quantity specified in the table is placed into the mixing container, the natural stones are poured in while stirring with a slow-speed mixer, and the mix is stirred for 2-3 minutes until ready for use. The natural stones used must not be damp. The prepared mix is spread and compacted with a steel trowel or steel screed bar over the prepared surface. On large areas, the application is completed by mechanical trowelling before the surface dries. Application tools: steel trowel, steel screed bar.
