Low oil saturating vapour pressure: this oil characteristic is essential in order to achieve the desired vacuum. Specific base stocks are used to formulate these products. High resistance to oxidation: it helps avoid the formation of organic deposits. Good viscosity index: Low variation of viscosity with rising temperature, steady throughout the whole oil service life, thus ensuring the sealing performance of the vacuum pump. In the case of corrosive gas or a very advanced vacuum, specific fluids are required (polyethers, silicones, etc.).
